Shazam has unveiled a powerful new tool for music discovery: the Shazam Viral Charts, a dynamic feature that spotlights the world’s fastest-growing songs based on unique data from the platform.
Updated daily on both Shazam and Apple Music, these charts offer a real-time snapshot of the most buzzworthy tracks gaining momentum globally and locally.
Unlike traditional charts that often follow streaming numbers or radio airplay, the Shazam Viral Charts are driven by organic audience curiosity—tracking spikes in song identifications that signal breakout moments, viral trends, or cultural resonance. The rankings are based on weekly growth in Shazam activity, allowing users to see which tracks are truly on the rise.
From social media trends to surprise placements in popular TV shows, Shazam’s data reveals how music travels today. The company highlights examples like Doechii’s “Anxiety,” which blew up on TikTok, and Billy Preston’s 1974 classic “Nothing From Nothing,” which soared to No. 4 on the US Shazam chart after featuring in HBO’s The White Lotus finale.
The importance of these alternative discovery pathways was further cemented in Shazam’s 2024 year-end charts, where 31 out of 100 top tracks were released before 2022. Among them were resurgent catalog hits like Natasha Bedingfield’s 2004 anthem “Unwritten” and Lady Gaga’s 2011 track “Bloody Mary.” Viral tracks also dominated the year’s top 10 for the first time, with fresh hits like Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things,” FloyyMenor & Chris MJ’s “Gata Only,” and Artemas’ “i like the way you kiss me.”
With the Shazam Viral Charts, users can now watch these surges unfold in real time. The feature includes a global Top 50 chart and 42 national charts—each ranking the Top 25 viral songs in countries ranging from Argentina to Uzbekistan.
Whether it’s a local gem exploding onto the international stage or a nostalgic classic enjoying a second wind, the Shazam Viral Charts give fans, artists, and industry players an unfiltered view of music’s most exciting moments—as they happen.
