Apple Unveils Its First Foldable iPhone – the iPhone Duo

Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone market with the unveiling of the iPhone Duo, introducing a new form factor built around two displays and the company’s latest A20 Pro chip.

Two Screens, One iPhone

When opened, the iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner display, which Apple says is its largest iPhone display yet. When folded, users get a compact 5.4-inch outer display, designed to make the device comfortable to operate with one hand.

The foldable is built from grade 5 titanium and features a precision hinge made up of more than 100 components. Apple has also equipped the device with Ceramic Shield protection and IP68 water and dust resistance.

A20 Pro Power and New Camera Tricks

Under the hood is Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, paired with a custom vapor chamber and dual-battery architecture. Apple claims the device delivers up to 35% better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro.

The iPhone Duo also packs 48MP Fusion Main and Ultra Wide cameras. Its folding design introduces features including Duo Preview, which lets subjects see themselves on the outer display while being photographed, and the ability to use the higher-resolution rear cameras for selfies.

iOS 27 Built for the Fold

Apple has adapted iOS 27 specifically for the new form factor. The larger screen supports features such as Split View, allowing two apps to run side by side on an iPhone for the first time.

The iPhone Duo will be available in star white and night sky, starting at $1,999 in the US. Pre-orders open on 16 October 2026, with availability beginning on 23 October in the first wave of markets.
