Uber Brings Matchday Experiences to South African Fans

Uber has announced a series of activations to support South African football fans throughout the 2026 World Cup, running from 11 June to 19 July. Spanning mobility, food delivery, and in-app experiences, the activations are designed to meet fans wherever they are and make every match day feel like a proper occasion.

On match days, supporters can access discounted rides to select fan zones, getting them into the heart of the action without the hassle by simply using the promo code MATCHDAY26. These discounts will be available for all South African matches including South Africa vs. Mexico and South Africa vs. Czechia.

Participating fan zones include Montecasino Piazza and Gold Reef City Casino in Johannesburg, MOJO Market and V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre in Cape Town, Suncoast Casino and Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Durban, and Eastwoods Tavern and Menlyn Park Shopping Centre in Pretoria.

Inside the Uber app, a special vehicle animation will allow users to select their country of support and see every car icon on the map wrapped in that nation’s flag, turning an everyday journey into a show of solidarity. Uber Eats will also serve up curated promotions, bringing the best of match day food directly to fans’ doors and will be extending its delivery hours until 2AM, giving fans even more time to enjoy their match night experience. Users can find Matchday discounts on a dedicated page on the app.

Additionally, Uber Eats is crafting tailored experiences for Eats users, introducing three exclusively curated match day boxes available for purchase throughout the tournament, in partnership with CityFuel.

“Sport has a unique way of bringing people together, and the World Cup remains one of the country’s most celebrated shared experiences,” said Yahya Munir, Communications Manager, MEA, at Uber. “Having supported major sporting moments in South Africa for years, from the Basketball Africa League to community-led initiatives across the country, we’re excited to be part of helping South Africans celebrate every moment of the tournament, whether fans are heading to a fan zone or watching from home.”
