Equal AI Secures $30 Million Series B Funding

Indian consumer AI startup Equal AI has raised $30 million (approximately R540 million) in a Series B funding round co-led by Prosus Ventures and Tomales Bay Capital, as the company looks to accelerate growth and expand its artificial intelligence-powered assistant services.

Founded by entrepreneur Keshav Reddy, the Hyderabad-based company initially operated in the identity and data-sharing space before pivoting to consumer AI in 2025. The company gained attention with the launch of its AI-powered call assistant, designed to screen incoming calls, identify callers, detect call intent, and perform tasks on behalf of users.

The latest funding round attracted participation from several high-profile investors, including PhonePe founder Sameer Nigam, Airtel Family Office’s Zubin Bharti Mittal, Skyflow AI co-founder Anshu Sharma, and Meta India’s vice president Sandhya Devanathan.

According to the company, Equal AI has surpassed one million monthly active users and approximately 350,000 daily active users, making it one of India’s fastest-growing consumer voice AI platforms. The startup plans to use the fresh capital to broaden its services beyond call management into areas including communications, financial services, and lifestyle assistance.

The funding marks a significant step up from Equal AI’s $10 million Series A round raised in 2024, which was also backed by Prosus Ventures and Tomales Bay Capital. The continued support from existing investors signals growing confidence in voice-based AI applications aimed at everyday consumers.

The deal comes amid a surge in global investment into artificial intelligence startups, with investors increasingly backing companies developing practical AI tools that solve real-world consumer challenges.
