Apple has officially introduced iPhone Air, a groundbreaking addition to the iPhone lineup that redefines thinness and performance. At just 5.6mm, iPhone Air is the slimmest iPhone ever made, combining a titanium frame, Ceramic Shield 2 protection, and Apple’s latest A19 Pro chip to deliver professional-grade performance in a feather-light form factor.
A Breakthrough Design
The iPhone Air features a grade 5 titanium frame with a high-gloss finish and a precision-milled back “plateau” to house its cameras, speaker, and Apple silicon. The device is both lighter and stronger than previous iPhones, boasting 3x better scratch resistance and 4x improved crack resistance thanks to Ceramic Shield 2 on both front and back.
The 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display supports ProMotion up to 120Hz, Always-On functionality, and a record-breaking 3,000 nits peak outdoor brightness, making it Apple’s brightest and most outdoor-friendly iPhone yet.
Next-Level Cameras
iPhone Air debuts an all-new 18MP Center Stage front camera, which uses AI to automatically adjust framing during selfies, video calls, and group shots. Users can shoot vertically without rotating their phones, and Dual Capture allows simultaneous recording with both front and rear cameras.
On the back, a 48MP Fusion camera system delivers the equivalent of four focal lengths, including 28mm and 35mm options, plus a 2x optical-quality telephoto zoom. Improved low-light performance, next-gen portrait features with Focus Control, and 4K60 Dolby Vision video with Spatial Audio position iPhone Air as a content creator’s dream.
Powered by Apple Silicon
At its core, iPhone Air runs on the A19 Pro chip, paired with Apple’s new N1 wireless chip (Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread) and C1X cellular modem — Apple’s fastest and most power-efficient modem ever. Together, they enable advanced on-device AI models in iOS 26, including Live Translation, smarter search, and enhanced privacy-focused Apple Intelligence features.
All-Day Battery Life
Thanks to its redesigned internal architecture and software optimizations, iPhone Air achieves impressive all-day battery life. A new Adaptive Power Mode in iOS 26 learns a user’s habits to stretch battery life when needed most.
Sustainability and Materials
Apple continues its environmental commitment with iPhone Air, using 80% recycled titanium, 100% recycled cobalt in the battery, and 45% renewable electricity across its supply chain. Packaging is fully fiber-based and recyclable.
Pricing and Availability
iPhone Air starts at $999 (U.S.), available in space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB. Pre-orders open Friday, September 12 at 5 a.m. PDT, with general availability beginning September 19 in over 60 countries.
Apple is also releasing a new line of accessories, including MagSafe cases, bumpers, a Crossbody Strap, and a thin MagSafe Battery Pack offering up to 40 hours of video playback when used together with iPhone Air.
