Nigeria is taking a bold step toward its ambition of becoming a US$1 trillion economy by 2030, with the launch of the inaugural GITEX NIGERIA — a landmark technology and innovation event set to unite global and local leaders across sectors in Abuja and Lagos from 1–4 September 2025.
Under the patronage of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the event aims to accelerate Africa’s digital sovereignty through talent development, digital infrastructure, and a thriving startup ecosystem. It is organised by KAOUN International, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and endorsed by the Lagos State Government.
Abuja Launch to Focus on AI and Digital Infrastructure
GITEX NIGERIA opens in Abuja on 1 September with the Government Leadership & AI Summit, where policymakers, innovators, and industry giants will explore strategies to strengthen Africa’s position in artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.
Hon. Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, said:
“Our success in delivering AI solutions will ensure that we evolve from being passive consumers of technology to becoming net producers of talent and innovation that compete globally.”
Lagos to Host West Africa’s Largest Tech Gathering
From 3–4 September, the programme moves to Lagos, splitting across two major venues:
-
Eko Hotel Convention Centre – GITEX NIGERIA Tech Expo & Future Economy Conference
-
Landmark Centre – GITEX NIGERIA Startup Festival
The Lagos showcase will bring together technology visionaries, industry leaders, and investors, making it West Africa’s largest convergence on digital transformation.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu hailed the event as a milestone:
“GITEX NIGERIA’s shared ambition will place Lagos at the heart of Africa’s digital future.”
International Tech Giants and Investors Eye Nigerian Market
The event is drawing major global players, including IBM operated by MIBB, AWS, Cisco, Kaspersky, and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Vishnu Taimni, General Manager of IBM operated by MIBB, emphasised Nigeria’s importance:
“Nigeria is a strategic priority… GITEX NIGERIA is a valuable opportunity to deepen collaboration and co-create technologies that empower industries and communities.”
