Fans can now show support to their favorite creators on Mixcloud

A way for fans to show their support for their favorite creators.

Mixcloud is an online music streaming service that allows for the listening and distribution of radio shows, DJ mixes, and podcasts, which are crowdsourced by its registered users. It allows all users to browse and stream audio content uploaded on its site. Registered users can upload content such as radio shows, DJ mixes, and podcasts, as well as promote and distribute their content through Mixcloud’s own social networking widget.

Since the beginning of lockdown, a lot of things had to change in terms of how we normally go about doing things. One industry that was greatly affected by this change was the music industry. Part of the music experience is a live performance outlet. But due to COVID-19, live performances such as DJ sets for example had to take the back seat in order to adhere to the lockdown regulations. A lot of the revenue DJs make, comes from live performance sets, so this was definitely a blow to all DJs globally.  However, Mixcloud has created a solution to this problem.

Mixcloud Select is a way for fans to show their support for their favorite creators by subscribing directly to their channels. As a fan, you can subscribe to a creator channel on Mixcloud Select for a small monthly fee and get rewards and benefits in return. By subscribing to a creator channel on Mixcloud Select, you will directly support the creator plus the music they play in their shows.

You stand a chance to have Access to Exclusive Shows, Early access to Exclusive Shows, Access to Extended Shows, Upfront Tracklists and the creator can even Drive support to your channel, as well as the artists and music played on your shows.

Mixcloud Select is based on a unique revenue share model where everyone involved in making the shows you listen to, gets their cut, fairly and legally. The creator keeps the majority share of the subscription after royalty costs and fees. A cut also goes toward Mixcloud to keep things running.

Although it is not a solid 10/10 solution, it does solve the bigger issue at hand to a very large extent. And If you are a DJ and you are looking for an outlet to help you monetize your live streams, at this very moment this is your best bet. This application is available for both Android and Apple devices and you can also download the software at mixcloud.com.
