Canal+ is preparing to introduce its streaming app across MultiChoice territories, including South Africa, as it develops its digital entertainment offering.
According to a MyBroadband report published on 13 October, signs of preparation include a South African page on the Canal+ website, initially spotted by entertainment publication Insidus ZA.
Plans Extend Across MultiChoice Markets
Canal+ chief executive Maxime Saada previously outlined plans to bring the app to MultiChoice markets, building on the company’s approach in French-speaking Africa.
The strategy connects satellite television subscriptions with online viewing, giving customers access to entertainment through multiple platforms.
Content Bundles Could Form Part of the Offering
MyBroadband reports that the service is expected to offer functionality comparable to DStv Stream, with possible enhancements including content bundles from other streaming providers.
However, potential partnerships and the South African content offering remain unconfirmed.
Launch Details Still Awaited
The report did not establish a confirmed local launch date or subscription price. Canal+ had not responded to MyBroadband’s questions at publication.
For South African viewers, the development signals preparations for another streaming option, with further announcements needed to clarify access, packages and content.
