Apple has announced that pre-orders for iPhone Duo will open on Friday, 16 October, introducing a foldable design that combines the company’s largest iPhone display with a compact outer screen.
According to Apple’s announcement, pre-orders begin at 5 a.m. Pacific Time through its website and the Apple Store app. Powered by the A20 Pro chip, the device pairs a folding display with new multitasking features, an advanced camera system and an adapted iOS 27 experience.
A Bigger Screen in a Foldable Design
When opened, iPhone Duo features a 7.58-inch inner display, measured diagonally as a standard rectangle. Apple says this offers 50 percent more display area than iPhone 18 Pro Max, giving users additional space for watching content, gaming and working across apps.
When closed, the device has an approximately 5.4-inch outer display, offering 90 percent of the screen area of iPhone 18 Pro in a smaller form.
Apple describes the unfolded device as its thinnest iPhone yet. Its design includes a precision-engineered hinge and a dual-battery architecture that the company says delivers all-day battery life.
iOS 27 Adapts to the Fold
The larger screen introduces Split View multitasking, allowing users to work with apps side by side, alongside seamless app switching.
The interface responds as the device folds, changes orientation when turned sideways and switches to the appropriate display when flipped over. These features are designed to make moving between the inner and outer screens feel intuitive.
StandBy also works on either display, even when the phone is not charging, allowing iPhone Duo to serve as a clock, digital photo frame or display for widgets.
Cameras Built for New Ways of Shooting
iPhone Duo features a 48MP Fusion Main camera with zero shutter lag and an integrated optical-quality 2x Telephoto option. A second 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera supports wider shots and macro photography.
The Center Stage front camera can automatically capture photos and videos in different orientations, allowing users to take landscape selfies without rotating the phone.
A separate FaceTime camera sits beneath the inner display, supporting video calls while the device is open or propped on a surface for hands-free use.
Two Colours and New Accessories
The device will be available in star white and night sky, with an IP68 rating for splash, water and dust resistance. Apple notes that this resistance can decrease through normal wear.
New accessories include the iPhone Duo Folio in navy blue and taupe, featuring an integrated kickstand for reading, watching content and making video calls.
The iPhone Duo Case, available in sand and navy blue, uses a lightweight, two-part design to protect both sides of the device. Both accessories support MagSafe, Qi2 25W and Qi-certified chargers.
Trade-In Offers and Subscription Benefits
Apple’s announcement lists trade-in credits ranging from $175 to $885 for eligible iPhone 13 models or newer, depending on the device’s condition, year and configuration. Financing options and AppleCare protection plans are also available in supported markets.
Eligible new and returning subscribers who purchase iPhone Duo can receive three months of Apple One at no charge, subject to the offer’s terms. The subscription bundles services including Apple Music, Apple TV and iCloud+, and automatically renews at the applicable regional price unless cancelled.
