Instagram is bringing its video experience to bigger screens with a dedicated Apple TV app, giving viewers a new way to watch Reels and longer creator videos from their couches. The app’s arrival is confirmed by Instagram’s App Store listing, which promotes watching and discovering content together on television.
From mobile scrolling to television viewing
According to Gadgets 360, the Apple TV app launched on 23 October 2026 and also supports live shows. Viewers can search for creators and other users, while cross-device playback allows them to continue watching from where they previously stopped.
The expansion gives Instagram another setting in which to reach audiences. Videos typically watched alone on a phone can now become something friends or family watch together, potentially changing how people engage with creator content.
What viewers need
Instagram is listed as a free download with optional in-app purchases. The Apple TV version requires tvOS 26.0 or later, according to Apple’s App Store listing.
The release concerns an app for Apple TV devices, rather than programming added to Apple’s subscription streaming service.
A wider push onto television screens
The Apple TV launch follows Instagram’s earlier television experiments. Gadgets 360 reports that the platform began testing an app on selected Amazon Fire TV devices in the United States in December 2025, followed by Google TV in February 2026 and Samsung smart TVs in June.
For creators, the potential opportunity is a broader viewing experience: comedy, lifestyle videos and other visual storytelling could reach audiences beyond the mobile feed. Whether that translates into longer viewing sessions or stronger engagement remains to be seen.
