The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has announced that its streaming platform, SABC Plus, is now available on Hisense Smart TVs following a recent platform upgrade that has been rolled out across compatible Hisense devices.
The move expands the number of devices that support SABC Plus, allowing more South African households to access the broadcaster’s free streaming service directly from their television screens.
The launch comes ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, where the SABC will serve as South Africa’s official free-to-air broadcaster. The broadcaster is set to air 35 live matches during the tournament across SABC 1, S3 and the SABC Sport channel available on SABC Plus.
Coverage will include the opening ceremony, all Bafana Bafana matches, selected knockout fixtures and the tournament final. Hisense Smart TV users will be able to stream the matches through the SABC Plus application.
Expanding Access to Free Digital Content
Beyond World Cup coverage, the SABC says the platform offers access to a broad range of content including live sporting events, entertainment programming, news, radio stations and on-demand viewing options.
The broadcaster has continued to position SABC Plus as a digital hub for audiences seeking both live and catch-up content across multiple genres.
Features Available on SABC Plus
Through the SABC Plus app, viewers can access live television channels, radio stations, video-on-demand (VOD) content, podcasts and catch-up programming.
The platform also includes personalised viewing features such as My Playlist, My Favourites and My History, allowing users to customise their viewing experience.
To simplify access, users can log in to the service using a QR code feature, enabling quicker account authentication and setup.
