A Tribute to Black History Month
Apple has officially introduced the Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop, a special-edition Apple Watch band created to honour Black History Month while celebrating the power of human connection. The release continues Apple’s Black Unity collection, spotlighting culture, creativity, and community through design.
Supporting Community and Creative Growth
Alongside the launch, Apple reaffirmed its commitment to supporting organisations that foster creativity and opportunity in under-resourced communities worldwide. New grants will benefit groups such as:
-
Boys & Girls Clubs of America
-
Urban Arts in New York City
-
Youth Music in London
-
Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney
-
Enactus México in Mexico City
These initiatives build on Apple’s ongoing efforts to expand educational, economic, and creative access globally.
Designed With Cultural Significance
The band was designed by Black creatives and allies within Apple. It features colours inspired by the Pan-African flag — red, green, and black — woven together using recycled polyester yarn wrapped around ultrathin silicone threads. The precision-braided construction delivers a soft, textured finish that is both sweat- and water-resistant, while subtle tonal variations add depth and vibrancy.
Pricing, Compatibility and Availability
The Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop is available to order online and through the Apple Store app for $99 (US), with in-store availability following shortly after launch.
The band comes in 42mm and 46mm case sizes, fits band sizes 0–12, and is compatible with:
-
Apple Watch Series 4 or later
-
Apple Watch SE
-
Apple Watch Ultra models (46mm band only)
Continuing the Unity Legacy
With this latest release, Apple blends technology, culture, and social impact — using design not only as an aesthetic statement but also as a platform to promote connection, creativity, and community empowerment worldwide.
