Meta Appoints Dina Powell McCormick as President

Meta has announced the appointment of Dina Powell McCormick as its new President and Vice Chairman, marking a significant leadership move as the company accelerates its ambitions in frontier artificial intelligence and long-term global infrastructure development.

Powell McCormick joins Meta’s executive leadership after previously serving as a highly engaged member of the company’s Board of Directors, where she played a key role during a pivotal period of expansion focused on advanced AI systems and what Meta describes as the pursuit of personal superintelligence.

As Meta scales its operations, the company says the complexity of its mission is rapidly evolving. The tech giant is building what it calls a massive physical and financial foundation to support the next decade of computing — spanning large-scale data centers, energy systems, and global connectivity infrastructure at unprecedented levels.

Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Powell McCormick’s background makes her uniquely qualified to help steer the company through this next phase of growth.

“Dina’s experience at the highest levels of global finance, combined with her deep relationships around the world, makes her uniquely suited to help Meta manage this next phase of growth as the company’s President and Vice Chairman,”

Zuckerberg said.

In her new role, Powell McCormick will sit on Meta’s management team and help guide the company’s overall strategy and execution. She will work closely with Meta’s compute and infrastructure teams to ensure the company’s multi-billion-dollar investments are delivered in line with strategic goals, while also driving positive economic impact in communities where Meta operates globally. A key part of her mandate will include building new strategic capital partnerships and identifying innovative ways to expand Meta’s long-term investment capacity.

Powell McCormick brings more than 25 years of experience across global finance, national security, and economic development. She spent 16 years at Goldman Sachs, where she became a partner and served in senior leadership roles, including as a member of the firm’s Management Committee and leader of its Global Sovereign Investment Banking business. During her tenure, she spearheaded landmark economic development initiatives such as 10,000 Women, 10,000 Small Businesses, and One Million Black Women — programs credited with driving sustainable economic growth and opportunity worldwide.

Her public service career includes senior roles under two U.S. administrations. She served as Deputy National Security Advisor to President Donald J. Trump, and previously as a Senior White House Advisor and Assistant Secretary of State under Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during President George W. Bush’s administration. Most recently, Powell McCormick was Vice Chair, President, and Head of Global Client Services at BDT & MSD Partners.

Her appointment underscores Meta’s intent to blend technological ambition with deep financial, geopolitical, and economic expertise as the company positions itself at the center of the next era of global computing.
