OnePlus Buds Pro 4 Put Battery Life in the Spotlight

OnePlus has revealed specifications for its Buds Pro 4 wireless earbuds, with battery endurance emerging as a headline feature. The company claims up to 53 hours of combined playback from the earbuds and charging case, depending on listening settings.

The Numbers Behind the Battery Claim

The 53-hour figure applies when active noise cancellation is switched off, using the AAC audio codec at 50% volume. Under those conditions, the earbuds alone offer up to 13 hours between charges.

Switch noise cancellation on, and the figures drop to six hours from the earbuds and 26 hours including the case. These are manufacturer estimates rather than independently verified results.

Dynaudio Tuning and Dual Drivers

Battery life forms part of a broader audio package that includes Dynaudio sound tuning, adaptive noise cancellation and support for LHDC 5.0 high-resolution audio.

Each earbud combines an 11mm bass driver with a 6mm tweeter, giving low and high frequencies dedicated drivers. OnePlus also lists dual-device connectivity, allowing the earbuds to connect to two devices simultaneously.

A Choice of Two Finishes

The Buds Pro 4 come in Titanium Shadow and Polar White, with each earbud weighing approximately 5.6g. Their rounded charging case features a matte finish and a metallic ring.

The earbuds carry an IP55 dust and water-resistance rating, although that protection does not extend to the charging case.

South African Availability Still to Be Confirmed

The published specifications offer an early look at the product, but South African pricing and a local release date were not confirmed in the material reviewed.

For music listeners, the key distinction is how they plan to use the earbuds: those who regularly enable noise cancellation should look to the 26-hour combined estimate when assessing battery life.
