Spotify Introduces Paid Podcast Memberships

Spotify has launched paid podcast Memberships, allowing eligible creators to sell exclusive content and benefits directly to their audiences.

Announced on 20 October 2026, the feature is rolling out across 34 markets, with creators keeping 90% of the membership revenue they generate.

Exclusive Content and Flexible Pricing

Podcasters can offer bonus episodes, early releases, exclusive audio and video, archive access or fewer advertisements. Creators choose their pricing and can organise benefits into different membership tiers.

Both Free and Premium users in supported markets can purchase memberships through participating shows’ Spotify pages.

Another Way to Fund Podcasts

Memberships add recurring fan payments to Spotify’s existing advertising and sponsorship options.

Eligible shows must be hosted on Spotify for Creators or Megaphone, have at least three published episodes, and record 100 listeners or viewers and 100 consumption hours on Spotify during the previous 30 days.

South Africa Outside Initial Rollout

South Africa is not included in the initial rollout. Supported markets include the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and several European countries.

Spotify’s announcement does not specify a South African launch date.
