Afriex Partners with Visa to Power Real-Time Global Payments

Fintech innovation meets Visa Direct to redefine cross-border money transfers

Afriex, a global fintech platform transforming how people send and receive money, has announced a major collaboration with Visa, the world leader in digital payments. The partnership will bring real-time cross-border payment capabilities to more than 160 markets worldwide.

By integrating Visa Direct through its financial institution partner, Afriex now enables individuals and businesses to move money faster and more securely — directly to eligible Visa endpoints, including billions of accounts globally.

“For the millions of families and businesses who depend on remittances, speed and transparency matter most,” said Tope Alabi, CEO at Afriex. “Working with Visa allows us to pair Afriex’s innovation with Visa Direct’s global network, so money moves in real time, not days.”

Transforming Remittances for Families and Businesses

According to the World Bank, remittances to low- and middle-income countries reached $669 billion in 2023, underscoring the growing importance of efficient, reliable, and affordable transfer systems. Through this integration, Afriex and Visa aim to make those funds available to recipients more quickly, supporting families, communities, and enterprises that rely on cross-border income.

Accessible Now on the Afriex App

The new Visa Direct functionality is already live and available through the Afriex mobile app, giving users immediate access to faster international transfers.

This collaboration strengthens Afriex’s mission to make global payments accessible, affordable, and instant, while leveraging Visa’s trusted infrastructure to enhance reach, reliability, and financial inclusion across continents.
