Lunar Founders Launch AI Audit Startup Repodo

New Danish startup wants to reinvent auditing with artificial intelligence

A group of entrepreneurs behind Danish fintech success story Lunar have launched a new artificial intelligence startup, Repodo, with €8.2 million in pre-seed funding as the company looks to modernise the auditing industry.

The Copenhagen-based startup officially launched in August 2026 and is building an AI-native audit platform designed to automate time-consuming processes traditionally handled manually by auditors.

Repodo was founded by Lunar co-founders Ken Villum Klausen, Lasse Mølgaard and Nicolaj Højer Nielsen alongside experienced auditor Anders Houmann, bringing together fintech, technology and auditing expertise.

Repodo takes aim at traditional auditing

The startup is entering an industry that has historically relied heavily on manual processes, spreadsheets and large amounts of documentation.

Repodo believes artificial intelligence can change how audit work is performed by automating repetitive tasks while giving auditors more time to focus on areas requiring professional judgement, analysis and client interaction.

Rather than simply adding AI tools to existing auditing systems, the company is positioning itself as an AI-first business built around a technology-driven approach to the audit process.

The ambition comes as professional services firms around the world increasingly explore how generative AI and automation can improve productivity across accounting, auditing, consulting and legal services.

€8.2 million backing gives startup an early boost

Repodo’s launch is backed by an €8.2 million pre-seed funding round, giving the young company significant capital at an unusually early stage of its development.

The investment will support the development of its technology, expansion of its team and the company’s efforts to establish itself within the auditing market.

The size of the round also reflects growing investor appetite for vertical AI companies — startups applying artificial intelligence to specialised industries rather than building general-purpose AI products.

Lunar founders return with another fintech venture

Repodo is particularly notable because of the experience of its founding team.

Klausen, Mølgaard and Nielsen were involved in building Lunar, one of the Nordic region’s best-known fintech companies, giving Repodo a founding team already familiar with building and scaling technology businesses operating within highly regulated financial environments.

The addition of Houmann brings direct auditing expertise to the company, potentially helping Repodo bridge the gap between technology development and the regulatory and professional requirements of the audit industry.

AI continues moving into professional services

Repodo’s arrival is another indication of how quickly AI startups are moving beyond consumer applications and into specialised business sectors.

Auditing represents an attractive opportunity because of the large amounts of structured financial information, documentation and repetitive administrative work involved in the profession.

However, the industry is also heavily regulated and dependent on professional accountability, meaning AI is more likely to augment auditors than completely replace them.

For Repodo, the opportunity will be proving that an AI-native approach can deliver faster and more efficient audits without compromising the accuracy, compliance and trust at the heart of the profession.
