As artificial intelligence continues to transform industries around the world, one woman is ensuring that Black women are not left behind in the technology revolution. Angle Bush has emerged as one of the most influential voices advocating for diversity, education, and representation in the rapidly evolving AI sector.
Bush is the founder and CEO of Black Women in Artificial Intelligence (BWIAI), a global organization dedicated to educating, engaging, embracing, and empowering Black women in artificial intelligence. Since launching the initiative in 2020, she has transformed it into an international movement that spans five continents and connects professionals from a wide range of industries, including healthcare, law, education, media, and technology.
Her journey into AI began in an unconventional way. While researching how to build a robot capable of serving her hot chocolate, Bush became fascinated by artificial intelligence and its potential to reshape society. However, as she attended AI conferences and industry events, she noticed a troubling lack of diversity among participants and speakers. Rather than accepting the status quo, she decided to create a platform that would provide access, opportunities, and visibility for Black women interested in the field.
Today, BWIAI partners with some of the world’s largest technology companies, including Microsoft, Amazon, and NVIDIA, to provide mentorship, training programs, scholarships, career development resources, and networking opportunities. The organization has also developed innovative tools to help aspiring AI professionals identify career pathways and acquire the skills needed to succeed in the industry.
Bush’s impact has not gone unnoticed. In 2026, she was named to Business Insider’s prestigious AI Power List, which recognizes influential leaders shaping the future of artificial intelligence. The publication highlighted her efforts to create pathways for underrepresented communities in AI and her belief that the benefits of the technology revolution should be accessible to everyone.
One of Bush’s most widely quoted statements captures the essence of her mission: “You can’t have a revolution without Black women.” The phrase has become a rallying cry for diversity and inclusion within the technology sector, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that those building the future reflect the diversity of the societies they serve.
Beyond her work with BWIAI, Bush has become a sought-after speaker, educator, and advocate for equitable technology development. She frequently speaks at universities, technology conferences, and corporate events, encouraging organizations to prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion, and retention as core components of innovation.
