Forterra Secures $238 Million Series C to Accelerate Deployment

Building the Future of Cognitive Defense Operations
Wars are not won in the air or online—they are won on the ground. Every missile, sensor, and soldier depends on ground vehicles to move critical supplies and weapons. With manpower and industrial capacity tightening in the U.S., Forterra is tackling a strategic challenge: ensuring resilient logistics and operational agility through intelligent autonomy.

A New Class of Cognitive Mission Systems
Forterra envisions a future powered by autonomous, interoperable, and intelligent platforms—systems that can move, sense, and fight without pause. These cognitive mission systems act as true force multipliers, integrating seamlessly across fleets, payloads, and command structures while extending the reach and survivability of the modern force.

$238 Million Series C Funding Round
The company announced a $238 million Series C round—a combination of equity and debt—led by Moore Strategic Ventures. New investors include Salesforce Ventures, Franklin Templeton, Balyasny Asset Management, 645 Ventures, Hanwha Asset Management, 9Yards Capital, RTX Ventures, and NightDragon, alongside existing backers XYZ Venture Capital, Hedosophia, and Enlightenment Capital.

Longtime investor Crescent Cove doubled down with both equity and debt contributions, signaling continued confidence since Forterra’s Series A in 2021.

Accelerating the Future of Autonomous Warfare
“Autonomy is no longer optional—it’s an operational imperative,” Forterra stated. The new funding will scale its command, control, and communications systems; expand production of its edge compute and autonomy platforms for defense applications; open new offices; and enable rapid deployment of combat systems to warfighters.

Proven Track Record with the U.S. Department of Defense
Over the past four years, Forterra has quietly achieved significant milestones in U.S. defense innovation, including:

  • Delivering ROGUE Fires, the Department of Defense’s first ground autonomy Program of Record—America’s only mobile, land-based, autonomous missile launcher.

  • Securing a $114 million U.S. Army contract to field autonomous breaching systems.

  • Advancing the Army’s UxS program for unmanned tactical platforms.

  • Progressing to Phase II of the Army’s GEARS program, aimed at automating heavy logistics fleets.

  • Partnering with leading defense and industrial players such as Raytheon (RTX), BAE, Volvo Defense, and CHAOS Industries to deploy cutting-edge autonomous systems.

Shaping the Next Generation of Defense Technology
Forterra’s work reflects a broader transformation: defense clients now demand intelligent, modular, and interoperable systems that can coordinate across domains and command structures. The company’s mission is clear—build low-cost, autonomous systems that empower operators and help ensure the West retains a decisive technological edge.
