Samsung Electronics has officially announced the Galaxy S26 series, introducing what it calls its most intuitive, proactive and adaptive Galaxy AI experience to date. The new lineup — Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra — marks Samsung’s third-generation AI smartphones, designed to simplify everyday mobile tasks by reducing the number of steps users need to take to get things done.
From managing schedules and searching for information to capturing and refining content, the Galaxy S26 series shifts complex processes into the background. The goal, Samsung says, is to let users focus on outcomes rather than navigating technology.
“We believe AI should be something people can depend on every day, designed to work consistently for everyone and without the need for expertise,” said TM Roh, Chief Executive Officer and Head of Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “With the Galaxy S26 series, we focused on making AI feel effortless, working quietly in the background so people can focus on what matters.”
AI-Powered Performance Built for Everyday Reliability
At the core of the Galaxy S26 Ultra is the customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, delivering notable gains in CPU, GPU and NPU performance. Samsung reports up to a 19% CPU improvement, a 39% boost in NPU performance for AI-driven tasks, and a 24% GPU uplift for enhanced graphics and smoother gameplay.
To maintain peak output, Samsung has redesigned the Ultra’s internal cooling system with a larger Vapor Chamber and improved thermal interface materials. The result is more efficient heat dissipation during demanding activities such as gaming, multitasking and 4K video capture.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra also supports Super Fast Charging 3.0, reaching up to 75% battery in approximately 30 minutes with a 60W adapter. Across the range, the devices are engineered for improved AI performance, power efficiency and thermal stability — ensuring all-day reliability.
Industry-First Built-In Privacy Display
A headline feature exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra is what Samsung describes as the world’s first built-in Privacy Display for mobile phones.
Unlike traditional privacy screen protectors, the integrated solution works at the pixel level. When activated, it limits side-angle visibility while maintaining clarity for the user directly in front of the device. Users can customize when Privacy Display activates — such as during PIN entry or within selected apps — and adjust the level of protection with Partial or Maximum Privacy modes.
Samsung says this innovation reinforces its commitment to privacy without compromising brightness, color accuracy or everyday usability.
Elevated Camera System with AI Editing Tools
The Galaxy S26 series continues Samsung’s push in mobile photography, combining advanced hardware with AI-driven editing tools.
The S26 Ultra features:
-
200MP wide camera
-
50MP ultra-wide camera
-
Dual telephoto system with up to 10x optical-quality zoom
-
12MP front-facing camera
Wider apertures improve low-light photography, while enhanced Nightography Video and upgraded Super Steady stabilization support clearer footage in dim or high-motion environments. The S26 Ultra is also the first Galaxy device to support APV, a professional-grade video codec optimized for high-quality compression workflows.
On the software side, Samsung’s upgraded Photo Assist suite enables users to edit images through natural language prompts. Users can adjust lighting conditions, restore missing image elements, modify clothing details or refine scenes step-by-step — all within an integrated workflow.
Creative Studio further allows users to generate stickers, invitations and personalized wallpapers from sketches, prompts or photos without switching between apps.
A More Proactive Galaxy AI Experience
The Galaxy S26 series introduces enhancements to tools such as Now Nudge and Now Brief, which surface contextual reminders and suggestions based on user behavior.
For example:
-
If a friend requests trip photos, the device suggests relevant images from Gallery.
-
If a meeting message arrives, the phone cross-references Calendar entries for conflicts.
Circle to Search with Google now supports multi-object recognition, enabling users to identify multiple items within a single image. Meanwhile, Samsung’s upgraded Bixby offers more natural conversational control over device settings and navigation.
The series also integrates third-party AI agents, including Google Gemini and Perplexity AI, allowing users to complete multi-step tasks — such as booking transport — through voice prompts or a single button press.
Security Reinforced for the AI Era
With AI personalization expanding, Samsung has layered additional security protections into the Galaxy S26 series.
Beyond the hardware-based Knox platform, the devices introduce:
-
AI-powered Call Screening
-
Real-time Privacy Alerts for sensitive data access
-
Private Album within Gallery
-
Post-quantum cryptography protections across system processes
-
Enhanced encryption within Knox Matrix
Samsung has also committed to seven years of security updates, supporting long-term device resilience.
Design, Availability and Ecosystem Integration
The Galaxy S26 lineup features a unified design language and shared color options: Cobalt Violet, White, Black and Sky Blue, alongside Samsung.com-exclusive Pink Gold and Silver Shadow.
Pre-orders begin February 25, with availability spanning global markets. The Galaxy S26 Ultra features a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, while the S26 and S26+ offer 6.3-inch and 6.7-inch panels respectively. All models support 120Hz adaptive refresh rates and ship with Android 16 and One UI 8.5.
