Global fintech leader Ripple has announced a groundbreaking partnership with African payments provider Chipper Cash to enable faster, cheaper, and more efficient cross-border payments into Africa.
Through this collaboration, Chipper Cash will integrate Ripple Payments, a crypto-enabled payments solution that leverages digital assets to streamline international money transfers. The partnership aims to significantly reduce friction and transaction times for sending money into the continent — offering around-the-clock accessibility, 365 days a year.
Chipper Cash, which serves over five million customers across nine African countries, will now empower users to receive payments from anywhere in the world more efficiently, marking a critical step forward in financial inclusion and economic access.
“Our partnership with Chipper Cash marks a key milestone in the expansion of Ripple’s business in Africa,”
said Reece Merrick, Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa at Ripple.
“By integrating our technology into Chipper Cash’s platform, we’re enabling faster, more affordable cross-border payments while driving economic growth and innovation across the markets they serve.”
Ripple, a pioneer in digital asset infrastructure, has processed more than $70 billion in volume across over 90 payout markets—covering more than 90% of daily foreign exchange activity. The company holds over 60 regulatory licenses and registrations worldwide and has spent the past decade developing trusted blockchain solutions for financial institutions.
Ham Serunjogi, Co-Founder and CEO of Chipper Cash, echoed the excitement, emphasizing the broader impact of the partnership:
“Crypto-enabled payments have the potential to enable greater financial inclusion, accelerate access to global markets, and empower businesses and individuals across Africa. Through integrating with Ripple’s global payments network, we are excited to harness the transformative potential of blockchain technology.”
Founded in 2018, Chipper Cash has evolved from offering free peer-to-peer money transfers to building out a broader financial services platform that now includes personal investments and business tools. The company is on a mission to become the most trusted and accessible financial platform for Africans and the diaspora.
Ripple’s XRP Ledger and its native digital asset XRP continue to power its real-world solutions for payments, custody, and tokenization, cementing its position as a key player in the emerging digital asset economy.
This partnership is poised to redefine how money moves into Africa—offering a glimpse into a future where financial barriers are broken down by blockchain-powered innovation.
