With a legacy spanning more than a decade in South Africa, Trinasolar has solidified its role as a key player in the country’s renewable energy sector. The company is currently the largest solar equipment supplier in South Africa, having delivered nearly a gigawatt of solar modules and 250MW of solar trackers to local markets in the past year alone.

“Trinasolar has been part of the South African energy landscape for over a decade, and our local investments are paying off,”

said Zaheer Khan, Regional Director for South Africa.

“Our focus remains on offering high-quality, cost-effective solutions to help South Africa address its energy crisis and move towards a more sustainable future.”

Innovations on Display

Trinasolar will use the platform of Solar & Storage Live Africa to unveil two new high-performance solar modules for the South African market:

  • Bifacial Vertex N 630W (NED19RC.20): Incorporating cutting-edge N-type i-TOPCon technology, this module delivers 23.3% efficiency and boasts a Fire Rating Class A+A and 55mm hail resistance. Engineered for durability, it offers strong resistance to salt, ammonia, sand, and various degradation mechanisms, making it ideal for harsh environments.

  • Anti-Dust Mono Facial Golden Size Module – 630W (NE19R.70): Also offering 23.3% efficiency, this module features a patented anti-dust frame and is optimized for low-angle installation, ensuring high energy output even in dusty or extreme conditions.

These innovations will be displayed alongside Trinasolar’s flagship modules:

  • Vertex N 720W (NEG21C.20): Designed to reduce Balance of System (BOS) and Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) by 2–6%, with a 30-year power guarantee and robust dual-glass design.

  • Vertex S+ 460W (NEG9R.28): Targeting residential and commercial rooftop markets, this compact, lightweight module achieves up to 23.0% efficiency, backed by 25-year product and 30-year power warranties.

Energy Storage for a Resilient Future

In addition to its PV innovations, Trinasolar will also unveil the TrinaStorage Elementa 2 Pro – 5MWh Energy Storage System, a robust solution tailored for South Africa’s challenging grid conditions and environmental factors. Featuring intelligent hybrid cooling, advanced fire suppression, and a 15,000-cycle lifespan, the system delivers top-tier reliability and efficiency with low-noise operation and eco-friendly compliance.

Supporting South Africa’s Green Transition

Trinasolar’s long-term commitment to South Africa is evident in its involvement in major utility-scale projects, including the 135MW Merak 1 Project, 283MWdc Mooi Plaats Photovoltaic Power Plant, and 195MW Springbok Utility Project. These initiatives underscore the company’s capacity to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions for the region’s energy transition.

By investing in local innovation and leveraging global expertise, Trinasolar is actively contributing to a cleaner, more energy-secure future for South Africa and the broader African continent.
