GeroCare is Nigeria’s subscription based healthcare service

GeroCare was developed as a subscription-based service for parents and the elderly that gives them access to regular doctor home visits to ensure any threats to their health is discovered early and taken care of, and to also remind them that someone still cares enough to provide them with good health care services, improved quality of life and elderly care through their health care services.

The bonus is that people receive regular detailed updates on their health status so that they can know how they are faring, steps to take to avoid illnesses and a more efficient way to manage conditions they might have.

When patients subscribe to their services via the website, they do this for their parents or elderly loved ones.

GeroCare makes the promise to give members of the elderly community the best care that they deserve.

The Gerocare service is one that is very close to my heart, born out of my own personal experience which I realized was not unique to me but to a large number of the populace in Nigeria and across Africa.

Our drive at GeroCare thus is to not just provide health care for the elderly but to in a holistic way improve the lives of the elderly with a focus on three key areas: Health, Comfort and Happiness.

Like many of you I love my parents very much, because they are almost solely responsible for the man I am today and I would want to do anything to ensure they are happy and healthy

says Dr Ebi Ofrey [CEO].

However about three years ago my father had a stroke, a year later he had another stroke, my mum called me recently and told me her blood sugar was extremely high and the next statement that came out of her mouth really stung me. She said I had neglected her. It hurt because at some level it was true. Not because I wanted to but because as I went about trying to earn a living, somehow I had without knowing not paid much attention to her.

Having realized this, thinking so or saying I care was no longer sufficient, something needed to be done. The question was what?

What can be done to ensure our parent’s health are closely monitored by a doctor? What action can be taken to remind them that they are still loved and cared for without a significant dent in our account?

This was why GeroCare was developed as a subscription-based service for the elderly that entitles them to regular doctor home visits to not only ensure any threats to their health is discovered early and taken care of, but to also remind them that someone still cares enough to pay a doctor to visit them regularly. The bonus is that we receive regular detailed updates on their health status so we can be rest assured that they are in good hands.

Dr Ebi adds.
