ASPIRE,SALGA and GIZ to host a virtual hackathon in the Eastern Cape.

ASPIRE (Amathole District Municipality), SALGA and GIZ are hosting a virtual hackathon in the Eastern Cape on 7 – 8 December 2020 to help strengthen the digital interface between municipalities and their citizens with the theme Finding Smart and Interactive Digital Solutions for Local Government.

They would like to invite young people in the Eastern Cape with skills in software development, design, engineering, technology and/or knowledge of local government and public administration to take part in the hackathon and ideate solutions around the scenario “Building a municipal platform for youth involvement – From IDP planning to voice concerns”

Due to ongoing restrictions relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hackathon will take place virtually. Participants will code/build solutions from home, network with and get mentored by related industry mentors, submit solutions and then submit before a panel of judges via an online platform.

Prizes will be given for the best solutions developed.

If you are registering as an individual and would like to find other team members, don’t worry! After you have registered we will help to match-make you with other young people with complementary skills to work on creating an MVP solution.
