Apple Unveils Home Collection With Smart Cameras

Apple has announced Apple Home Collection, a new range of smart home accessories developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, bringing security cameras, a smart door lock and climate-control devices into its Home ecosystem.

According to the announcement dated 13 October 2026, the collection will begin rolling out in December, with selected accessories arriving in early 2027. The products are designed to be set up using an iPhone and managed through the Apple Home app, without requiring separate manufacturer apps or accounts.

One App to Manage the Home

The collection builds on Apple’s existing support for Works with Apple Home and Matter accessories, with a focus on simplifying installation and everyday use.

Users can begin setup with a single tap of their iPhone, control accessories through Siri and create scenes that coordinate multiple devices. A morning routine, for example, could adjust the thermostat, change the indoor camera’s position and start music on a HomePod.

Apple says the accessories can also respond to household routines, adjusting the temperature, locking the door and activating camera monitoring when the last person leaves.

LG Cameras Cover Visitors, Deliveries and Indoor Activity

LG’s camera range includes a Video Doorbell, Floodlight Cam, Outdoor Cam and Indoor Cam.

The video doorbell uses two cameras to provide separate views of visitors and packages, while the floodlight camera combines motion-activated lighting with low-light colour night vision. The outdoor camera offers adjustable positioning for flexible coverage.

The indoor model includes a physical privacy feature: it can tilt down to stop monitoring when the first household member returns home.

With a supported home hub and iCloud+ subscription, users can access 10 days of recorded event history. Eligible plans also support Apple Intelligence features that describe recorded activity and allow users to search footage using natural language.

Apple says built-in camera storage allows recording to continue during Wi-Fi outages.

A Front Door That Unlocks as You Approach

The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock uses Ultra Wideband technology to detect an approaching user carrying a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch with a home key, allowing the door to unlock automatically.

Other entry options include tap-to-unlock, an integrated PIN pad and a concealed backup key slot. Users can also share guest access through the Home app.

The lock and video doorbell can work together, allowing residents to see and speak to visitors before unlocking the door remotely. According to the announcement, core access functions operate locally and remain available without an internet connection.

Thermostats Adapt to Household Routines

LG and Schneider Electric are each introducing a smart thermostat, supported by separate temperature and humidity sensors.

An Adaptive Temperature feature uses on-device intelligence from iPhone to adjust heating and cooling according to whether residents are home, away or winding down for the evening.

In the contiguous United States, eligible households can also use Clean Energy Guidance to shift heating and cooling towards cleaner, lower-cost periods, depending on their utility plan.

Privacy and Availability

Apple says Home app data and camera footage are protected through end-to-end encryption, preventing Apple, LG and Schneider Electric from accessing that information.

US starting prices include $199.95 for the indoor camera, $249.95 for the wired video doorbell, $299.95 for the outdoor camera and $399.95 for the floodlight camera. The smart lock starts at $349.95, while both thermostat models start at $199.95.
