Threads is giving its users a bigger canvas for self-expression with the rollout of a new text attachment feature that allows posts to include up to 10,000 characters of additional content.
A Solution to the Screenshot Problem
Until now, many users who wanted to share longer perspectives relied on screenshots from articles, books, newsletters, or transcripts. The new feature eliminates this workaround, letting people publish extended thoughts directly within Threads.
How It Works
With text attachments, users can:
-
Add up to 10,000 characters of written content to a post.
-
Share and preview longer works such as essays, stories, or interviews.
-
Include external links in the main post to drive audiences to full articles, newsletters, or other platforms.
Boosting Creators and Conversations
Threads says the update is designed to help creators and communities connect around shared interests while giving users more tools to promote their work. For example, an author can share a passage from an upcoming novel, while a journalist can post a deep-dive excerpt from their latest piece.
Building for Expression
The company emphasized that this feature is part of its ongoing investment in creator tools, aimed at making it easier for people to start meaningful conversations and grow audiences across platforms.
“This gives people more room to express themselves and start conversations — and helps their community discover their work wherever it lives,” Threads said in its announcement.
The platform will continue to gather feedback on the rollout to refine the feature for writers, creators, and everyday users alike.
